Many luminary sons and daughters of Bangladesh are going heart and soul to uphold the dignity of Bangladesh infront of the whole world.Faisal Azad, a Bangladeshi-origin Australian citizen living in Sydney, is among such a well-known social worker. He is also closely involved with politics. He is the general secretary of Sydney unit of Bangladesh Awami League Australia.
The Community Leader, Faisal Azad came from an aristrocatic Bangladeshi Muslim family. Faisal Azad’s father late Nurul Azad was a prominent businessman and social worker from Kachua in Chandpur district. Nurul Azad College was established with him in Kachuar.Faisal Azad, the eldest son of late Nurul Azad, has been appointed as the president of the governing board of this college. Late Nurul Azad was a renowned educationist personality of greater Comilla. He loved the people of the area deeply.The pivotal figure,Mr. Faisal Azad opines, “People can’t feel real happiness by making economic condition good. For this we should stand by people in our area to make them developed.” That’s why he spent a large part of his earned money for the spread of education in his area.
Faisal Azad has established many educational and religious institutions including Batabaria Government Primary School, Manpura Batabaria Zafar Ali Memorial High School Nurul Azad College to spread the light of education in his area.He is an accomplished social worker like his father. He has shown his love for country’s people by keeping himself involved in foreign politics. Mr. Azad thinks that since he was born in the soil of Bangladesh, he feels comfortable to work for the betterment of the people of his native land. He said Bangladesh is my root. Faisal Azad is an officer of BD Hub, Australia’s first community hub which was formed in Minto to provide the local Bangladeshi Community with a centre for indoor sports,events and a hangout place. His wife Sumi Azad is very friendly. Faisal Azad is very happy with his mother, wife, two brothers and sisters and a child together.
The successful business icon,Faisal Azad is well known in Sydney as a cultural figure. He is a famous TV drama producer. Known as an icon to the younger generation, Faisal Azad is quite a familiar figure in Sydney’s cultural arena. Under his initiative, Chand Raat Mela was also organized at the time of the joyous festival of Eid along with cultural programs. The fair at the night before the Eid is very interesting. Faisal Azad is very active in the political arena as a pro-Liberation War figure. His father late Nurul Azad was the founding president of Awami League in Australia. He was very fond of to the current honorable Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. As the son of Nurul Azad, Faisal Azad is making an important contribution to Australian politics by uniting the pro-Liberation War forces there.
Faisal Azad, General Secretary of Sydney Awami League, said that we got Bangladesh, a map and a flag at the cost of long movement, sacrifice and struggle for freedom by Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. Bangabandhu created opportunities for universal education in the country to make Bangladesh self-reliant.
Bangabandhu realized that if the people of the country are educated and if women’s education progressed, the development of the country will accelerate. Under his competent daughter honorable Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, has undertaken a comprehensive development program. Now Bangladesh is no longer a poor country. We are now on the way to become a middle income country. He said that the country will develop if the pro-liberation people remain in power.
Faisal Azad said, “The image of Bangladesh has been brightened many times due to the construction of Padma Bridge at the initiative of Sheikh Hasina with our own funds. Foreigners used to look down on us. Now they are showing respect to Bangladesh.” He also said, “I am very proud of the birth of Bangladesh as our language has a history, which many nations of the world do not have” and sincerely hopes that Bangladesh will one day be established as ‘Sonar Bangladesh’ which Bangabandhu dreamt for and will be led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
Although Faisal Azad is a Bangladeshi Australian, but his dreams are surrounded by Bangladesh.He is a devoted soul for the development of his motherland as well as Australia.
