Shohel Chawdhury is one of those Bangladeshis who are contributing hugely to the trade and economy of Japan, the world’s richest and most advanced technology country. He is an exporter of Japanese cars. He is the President of MJ Auto Japanese Limited.
Shohel Chawdhury was born in Narsatpur village under Begumganj upazila in Noakhali district. His father’s name is Shafiq Chowdhury and mother’s name is Jahanara Akhtar. Since childhood, Shohel Chawdhury
had a dream to study abroad. He got admission in East West University after passing SSC in 1994 and HSC in 1996. In 1998, he went to Japan for pursuing higher education. Besides education purpose, he also went to change his luck as there are plenty of job opportunities for working people in Japan. He went to Japan with such a thought. He took the initiative to learn Japanese language after going there.
He attended a language school in Sendai, Miyagi Prefecture. He then obtained a four-year bachelor degree in business administration from a university. While studying there, he worked at a restaurant. After completing his studies, he took a job in an IT company. He worked there for two years. Later he served in the export department of a trading company. In this he gained a lot of experience in export. He developed himself as an entrepreneur by serving for about seven to eight years. In 2012, while working there, he started preparing on thought of setting up a company. In 2014, he founded MJ Auto Japan Limited, a car exporting company. He started exporting cars to several countries including Bangladesh, United Arab Emirates, India. By dint of honesty and good behavior, his business continued to flourish. His work experiences in the field led him to success. In a very short time he was able to establish himself in this business.
He came to the country in 2012 and got married Cumilla’s Shahnara Akhtar. His wife holds a B.Sc degree. He brought his wife to Japan in 2013 and is serving as the director of the company. The couple is blessed with a son Haiyan, who is a student of class three, and a daughter Mahira, who is studying in a play group.
Shohel Chawdhury, a handsome young man, Japan’s prominent car exporter, thinks about the development of country and its people even though he is abroad.
He thinks that Bangladesh is his root because it is his birthplace. He is happy with the recent development of Bangladesh. But to him, people’s money for infrastructural development alone cannot accelerate social development. For this we want 100% education and it should be applied technical education by using education a person will get opportunity to work in country and abroad. He said the Government of Meiji Japan realized in 1870 that education was the key to development. And that government has prioritized technology in education. Although Japan was destroyed in World War II, it has risen again with full vigor. The country became independent through the liberation war. There are entrepreneurs, businessman & secretaries on the one hand and on the other hand, there are rickshaw pullers and wheelbarrow drivers who have no education. As a result, income inequality is high.
Shohel Chawdhury said, during the era of Hazrat Muhammad (pbuh), women used to trade in Arabia. Today the economic condition of the country is changing as country’s women are getting education and entering the workforce. Today, girls are coming forward to take education, it is very good sign for the country. Once upon a time there was no advanced technology in the world, now people of a remote have access to this. He said, our Bangladesh is establishing the rule of law, the administration run according to the constitution of the country. The Bureaucrats of the country should act as per the constitution of the country to eradicated irregularities from the country. Shohel Chawdhury is keen to bring foreign investors to Bangladesh. He is happy with the construction of Padma Bridge.
He thinks that after the construction of this bridge, Government has started to plan on what kind of business and trade initiatives can be taken in those areas. There will be improvement if there are roads, proper supply of gas and electricity etc. An investment-oriented environment should be created in potential areas for foreign entrepreneurs. Japan’s young Bangladeshi entrepreneur Shohel Chawdhury is waiting for the day when Bangladesh will be developed at all levels and all the people will work after taking technical education. Shohel Chawdhury said, if proper education can be given, then it will be possible to establish Bangladesh as the most developed country in the world with this manpower. He is involved in several development initiatives in his area. He helps the needy and poor students of the area.
