Tahmina Watson is a Seattle-based immigration attorney, podcaster and activist. She is the founder of Watson Immigration Law and founder of the Washington Immigrant Defense Network, which funds and supports legal services for detained low-income immigrants. She is also the co-founder of Airport Lawyers which provided critical free services helping vulnerable people affected by the travel bans. Tahmina is deeply committed to serving the community as well as advocating for comprehensive immigration reform.

For her community work, Tahmina was recently recognized as a 2020 Woman of Influence honoree by the Puget Sound Business Journal (PSBJ). Tahmina works with leading national publications as a commentator and columnist and speaks around the country on immigration law and social justice issues.

She serves as a national spokesperson for the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA), and the chair of the Response Committee of the Washington Chapter of AILA. Tahmina also serves as a trustee of the Board of King County Bar Association in Washington, a past president of King County Washington Women Lawyers, and a former board member of both the Asian Bar Association of Washington and Washington Women Lawyers. In addition to being recognized for her work by PSBJ, she is a recipient of the 2019 AILA President’s Commendation Award. ‘Tahmina Talks Immigration’ podcast is available on Apple Podcasts. Tahmina was born and raised in London, UK, before relocating to Seattle, Washington. She is a proud wife and mother and her Bangladeshi heritage has enriched all of her work. Founded by Immigration Lawyer Tahmina Watson, Watson Immigration Law is a Seattle-based law firm with a practice exclusively in the area of United States Immigration and Naturalization law. They assist with all investment visa, family-based and employment-based immigration matters. The firm has a special focus on helping businesses, investors and entrepreneurs find the best visa solutions, whether they are coming from existing companies from abroad or starting new ones in the US. Their work with immigrant entrepreneurs gave rise to their passionate advocacy for the Startup Visa.

Watson is the President of WIDEN (Washington Immigrant Defense Network) from Jun 2018 to Present in the Greater Seattle Area. WIDEN trains and mentors non-immigration lawyer in immigration trial work while providing representation to detained indigent immigrants. www.widenlaw.org

Tahmina Watson went to Inns of Court School of Law for her BVCBarrister degree in 2001. She was the Secretary and Treasurer of BVC Human Rights Group during the time. She attended the Brunel University London for her LLB (Hons)Law in 1996 – 2000.

Her second publication Legal Heroes in the Trump Era: Be Inspired. Make Your Impact. Change the World was a best seller.  Watson has helped hundreds of businesses and families successfully navigate the complex arena of U.S. immigration law. A U.S. immigrant herself (and a naturalized citizen), Watson chairs the response committee of the Washington chapter of the American Immigration Lawyers Association, and serves as a national spokesperson for the American Immigration Lawyers Association.
