With a Bachelor of Engineering in Civil Engineering from Ahsanullah University of Science and Technology, Afia embarked on her journey with a strong foundation in problem-solving and analytical thinking. Her journey has been a remarkable one, marked by diverse experiences and contributions.
Afia’s career took a significant leap when she joined the a2i Programme, an initiative by the ICT Division of Bangladesh, in November 2019. As a young professional, she has devoted the last four years to pioneering ICT solutions that drive progress and prosperity in her homeland. Her work at a2i is not just a job; it’s a mission. It’s a mission to transform the landscape of ICT, making it a powerful tool for social and economic development. With her exceptional skills in Business Development, Afia Tabassum has been instrumental in forging partnerships, driving innovation, and bringing digital solutions to the masses.
However, her journey into the realm of technology and innovation didn’t start at a2i. Before joining this groundbreaking program, Afia had already proven her mettle in the professional world. In 2019, she briefly took on the role of Program Coordinator at MAX Group, where she contributed to the success of the Convention of NRB Engineers (CONE 2019). Her responsibilities included meticulous record-keeping, collaborating with international participants, managing registrations from over 21 countries, maintaining databases, and creating event schedules. In this short period, Afia showcased her innate leadership and organizational skills, setting the stage for her impressive future endeavors.
Prior to her tenure with MAX Group, Afia lent her expertise as an Assistant Engineer at Asset Steel Ltd for a four months duration. Her work here allowed her to apply her engineering knowledge in real-world applications, enhancing her problem-solving abilities, and gaining valuable hands-on experience.
Afia’s expertise extends beyond the technical realm. In 2018, she explored the world of Business Development as the Business Development Manager at Make My Event. In this role, she demonstrated her knack for identifying opportunities, cultivating partnerships, and driving revenue growth. Her work at Make My Event showcased her versatility, seamlessly transitioning from engineering to the entrepreneurial landscape of event management. Additionally, before Make My Event, Afia served as an Assistant Engineer at Jim Properties Limited. Here, she honed her engineering skills and contributed to the growth of the organization. Her dedication and commitment shone through as she demonstrated her ability to tackle complex challenges and deliver results.
