Kutubuddin Ahmed is an unparalleled name in the country’s industry, trade and commerce arena. He is one of those individuals whose leadership and contribution towards development of main export business sector of Bangladesh will never go into oblivion. He successfully gave leadership as an elected President of Bangladesh Garments Manufactures and Exporters Association (BGMEA) during the period of 2001-2002. He could retain the progress of Bangladesh Garments sector within a difficult period of severe global economic recession after nine-eleven. He was also the president of Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCI), Dhaka in 2004-2005.
Born in on 21 January 1956 in Dhaka, Mr. Kutubuddin Ahmed, graduated in Mechanical Engineering in 1979 from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET), the Apex Engineering and Technology Institution of the country. After that he did job in some private organizations and autonomous bodies. But the entrepreneurship was possibly inherent in his mind and by virtue of that, once he decided to quit the job and to enter into the business world. In 1984, he started business in the garments sector and established Envoy Garments Limited. By this time, he established fifteen more garment factories and branded as an umbrella organization named the Envoy Group.

Engr. Kutubuddin Ahmed has not restricted himself within industry trade-commerce, his contribution to the social, religious education and country’s sports sector is enviable. In 1997, he was awarded as “Sports Organizer of the Year” by Bangladesh Journalists Association. He was awarded “National Sports Award 2002”- the highest recognition for contribution as a sports organizer in Bangladesh. He was recognized as the Preeminent Personality in the Apparel Sector and received the prestigious “Arthakantha Business Award-2002” by a national financial fortnightly of Bangladesh. For contribution to the Rotary Foundation, he was made Paul Harris Fellow 2004. He has been awarded with the 2006 International Olympic Committee (IOC) Trophy “Sports and the Community”. He was awarded ‘Best Sports Organizer for the Year 2006’ by Bangladesh Sports Writers’ Association. He received a Diploma from the International Olympic Committee for remarkable success as a volunteer to the development of Sports and Olympiad and to the promotion of friendship and solidarity among people. He received award from International Islamic University Chittagong in recognition of his outstanding corporate achievement in 2008. He is also honoured as commercially important person (CIP) for 2009 for his outstanding business leadership. As a mark of deep respect to his father, Late Md. Saadat Ali, he formed the “SaadatSmritiSadan”, which contributes in serving poor and unfortunates in the society. Mr. Kutubuddin has established two charitable clinics, one at 555 Nayatola, BoroMoghbazar, Dhaka and the other one at Narshingdi, Dhaka, where almost twelve thousand patients receive medical treatment and healthcare services. He has established a Technical Institute with computer accessories and sewing machinery tools in Narshingdi for providing technical training. Engr. Kutubuddin has also made contribution in the modernization project of business faculty of Dhaka University. He is the Secretary General of Bangladesh Olympic Association and Vice President of Bangladesh Mohammedan Sporting Club, Dhaka. In addition, he is a member of Kurmitola Golf Club, Gulshan Club Ltd., Uttara Club Ltd., Dhaka Club Ltd., Savar Golf Club Ltd.
